WELCOME to the Greensboro Youth Hockey Association (GYHA) Webpage!  We've been around for years helping grow youth hockey in the triad area and beyond.  On our website, you'll find information about our various levels of ice hockey programs from Travel Hockey, Rec League, Cross-Rinks League as well as getting started in our Learn 2 Play program.

The July board meeting brought in the regular annual changing of the officers.  Votes were cast from eligible nominees ... and postions were accepted and notated under the Club Contacts, Board Members tab on the left menu bar. 

Note 1 :  The president will name thier vice president over the next weeks

Note 2:  There have been multiple web announcements calling for applicants as well as a verbal call at the annual meeting ... with just one application submitted and the need to move forward and prepare for the upcoming season, GYHA has elected Dene Rich to the board.

There is still one seat available on the board -- if interested please apply by August 15 and the board will vote on any submitted applicants at the August meeting.  Come join your board, represent your association, attend a board meeting or two throughout the year or serve on a committee ... we all can do something to help out.
 

    

GYHA is working to field a Midget 18U team for this upcoming 2010-11 season.

UPDATED:
As stated below the 2010-11 Hockey season is right around the corner with most practices starting first week in September!  With that said its time to hold the next tier of tryouts, House Select aka REC B. 
 

Saturday, August 21
12U PEE WEE:  5:30-6:30 pm
14U BANTAM:  6:30-7:30 pm
 

There will only be ONE day of tryouts at a reduced rate of $45 this year.  Look for online house select registration to open by August 1st.

Remember that 10U Squirt House Select will follow the USA Hockey, American Development Model (ADM) recommendations this 2010-11 season.  GYHA will field various Squirt House full ice teams (we anticipate 2).   Then once all have skated together for several weeks a TRYOUT will be held to pull up one tournament/select team that will play thier 10U HOUSE schedule along with  thier house select/rec b schedule and several tournaments.  

    

Board members serve a term of 3 years (or assume a term vacated) and attend  monthly board meetings and also special meeting sessions when needed.  Each board member will have additional duties either as a voted in Officer (id desired) or as a Comittee lead working together with other members of GYHA on Fundraising, Grants, Apparel, Orientation, Advertising, etc

Summer!

Some adjustments have been applied to summer hockey programming. Please note the following updates:

Thursday schedule as follows:

6:00-6:50 Learn to Play Hockey all ages

6:50-7:50 10U yrs  skills and game session (Monday night pick up games have merged with this program and offers both hockey skills and game opportunity)

7:50- 9:00 11-17 yrs skills  

Walk on fee $18.   4 session card  for $65.   

Summer programs will end on Aug. 12th.  Learn to Play Hockey and the regular 2010-11 hockey season play will resume in September.
